Christchurch Earthquake

Two weeks ago today my hometown of Christchurch was devastated by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake situated in Lyttelton. This latest earthquake has devastated the city bringing down buildings and claiming many lives.  Thankfully all my family was safe, although one of my sisters had me terribly worried as we knew she worked in  the city and was unable to contact her for several hours.  My brother and I had planned to go over there to celebrate his 50th birthday three days after the quake, we still went over  but the focus somewhat shifted we still celebrated his birthday of course but we were shocked at what had become of our hometown.  These are some of the images I took, the town centre where there was so much damage was still closed when we left and probably will be for many months, I’ve even heard possibly until Christmas. It’s amazing how the kiwi spirit came to life and everyone helped each other at such a traumatic time. This is going to take years to recover from.
