How long will the session last?

I set aside up to three hours of your baby's newborn session, often we don't need that much time but this allows for feeds and short breaks to settle baby.

What do I need to bring?

One of the most important things to remember is to give baby a BIG feed just before leaving home so he/she has a nice full tummy. If you are bottle feeding please make sure you bring some in case baby needs a top up during the session, also if baby takes a dummy please bring this along too. I suggest for parents to wear light clothing as I will have my house nice and warm, although it may be hot for us, baby LOVES it! It's a great way to keep them sleepy. Also before leaving home it's best to keep only a loose nappy on baby and placing them in the car seat covering them with blankets. This is an assurance of no clothing marks or indents on the skin... plus when you arrive it's much easier if baby is sleeping to place straight onto my backdrops to start shooting.  So when you arrive if baby is asleep please do not wake the baby....we will start with some gorgeous sleepy baby portraits first!! I recommend placing a blanket over the entire car seat before removing it from the car so that the sun beaming into baby's eyes does not wake them.

What should baby wear?

Newborns are best photographed naked, please do not worry no 'parts' will be exposed in the photos. I have a variety of simple wraps, bonnets etc. that I can bring with me. If you do want baby to wear something a simple 'onesie' is best, beig kid clothes like jeans do not look good on newborns. If you do have a special blanket or wrap you would like to incorporate into the session just have it on hand on the day.

What should I wear?

I know some parents aren't excited about being in the portraits ... please know that I can photograph around not having a full frontal and still capture the bond between parent and baby! Simple casual is best, I'd steer away from stripes, or anything too bold, nice soft tones work best. Perhaps bring a change of clothes for after the photo shoot just in case there is an 'accident' during the session! Also Mum's, bright nail polish really stands out, best to keep nails simple.

May we take photos during the session?

Generally speaking, I prefer that you don't take any photos during your baby's session, although I understand with social media being a big part of our lives these days you may take a 'behind the scenes' shot and if you do I'd love it if you tagged Jenny Ruddle Photography in it.

What happens if I need to reschedule the session?

I understand from time to time life or the unexpected happens, I kindly ask that if you do need to reschedule you let me know as soon as possible so I can make the time available for other bookings.

What happens if my baby has an ‘accident’ on your props?

Please do not worry, this is all part of the process and everything is laundered after the session.

When do I see my photos?

Generally within 48 hours after your session I post a sneak peek from your session on my Instagram & Facebook business page, please let me know if you do not wish for me to use any of your images in advertising.
