Your Session

I believe that children photograph best in a familiar environment, or one that they are free to explore, run and play in. Rather than you travelling to me, I will conduct your session either in your home or at a location of your choice. Other than just the local park, there are plenty of fantastic locations that would make a great backdrop for your family’s portraits – a friend’s farm, the beach, an urban street or the local river; you are only limited by your imagination. If your family has grown up on a farm then a farm session would be ideal. Old rustic sheds, broken fences – farms are one of my favourite places to shoot. Also, the thing you need to consider when choosing a location is the light. The best time for outdoor portraits is late afternoon which which results in better portraits. I can help you choose a location that suits your family.

Newborn sessions

Newborn sessions are held in the comfort of your own home, which is more relaxing for mum and baby. The best time to photograph newborns is within the first 2 weeks of life, ideally at 6-7 days old. During this time they tend to sleep more and have that special newborn look which doesn’t last long at all. Newborn sessions are never rushed and generally take between 2-3 hours. This allows plenty of time for you to feed, change or soothe your baby. These breaks are common and encouraged! The best time to book a newborn session is while you are pregnant. Even though we don’t know what day your little one will arrive, I do set aside days in my diary especially for newborns.

What do we wear?

Clothing choices can be as individual as your child. Let your child be the star of the show! A wildly-patterned pair of cargo pants and a hipster tee. Her funky hot pink tutu and cowboy boots. His ‘superhero’ cape. Individual shots give your child a chance to show his or her personality through fashion like no other. Upon booking your session a more detailed info pack will be sent out to you to help you get the best out of your portrait session.

After your session

Watch my blog over the next few days to see your sneak peek from your session. Within 2 weeks from the date of your session, I will send you an email advising your gallery is ready but not yet online. I will then ask you to select five days in your schedule when you’d like the slideshow and gallery to be live. Once your slideshow is up please feel free to share it with friends and family.
